L.A.'s finest Villains are coming thru to the east coast this evening to brighten up the NYC. I heard thrilla the other day on shuffle and was remembering the goodness it brought to the floor last year. So the goodness is on again tonight at Le Royale thanks to GBH and is free with RSVP; email and tell em your coming thru tonight.

Also, if you need more Villains fill you can check them out saturday night at the Crooked Disco event in Brooklyn with Ursala 1000 and an open bar. RSVP here.

I Love Andy

So I occasionally check out the Ovation channel, and I was fortunate enough to catch the movie I Shot Andy Warhol, staring Jared Harris - Igby Goes Down - and Lily Taylor - Four Rooms.  I'm not going to get into what the movie's about, but if you dig Andy as much as I do, check out Ovation, they're so hot for Andy right now.

Anyways, check out Andy being Andy:

A Cross The Universe

Here we go again. Another snowy day in upstate New York, stuck in the library trying to finish my college career off with a bang and i find myself distracted. By what you ask? None other than our good old friends Justice. November 24th 2008 was the official release date of A Cross the Universe, a documentary by Romain Gavras and So-Me. The documentary follows Xavier and Gaspard for twenty days while they tour the U.S. The film was shot between March and April of this year and has footage from almost every show, especially Madison Square Garden, BIG UPS NY!!! For anyone out there looking to kill a solid hour of boredom i suggest you call up that number, buy some papers, sit back, relax and enjoy!! This is a documentary worth watching, not suitable for the entire family however but perfect for that hipster girl you have been trying to watch a movie with forever. You have two choices, wait for it to be released on dvd in the U.S. on December 9th or buy it on Itunes (its five dollars cheaper on Itunes). Either way you chose it comes with the live CD from when they performed in San Francisco. The documentary is entertaining and all that jazz but if you love Justice like we do here at East Coast Overdose then you know that a live CD is what we have really been waiting for, and this is it!!! 17 songs that will have you jumping out of your seat and leave you pants less. So enjoy, go out and buy the dvd, its good for you, its good for Justice, and most important of all its good for the economy. Enjoy!!
p.s. ill try and post more often

Actual Event @ Vessel, SF

This is the actual event for tonight.  Unfortunately it's not Boys Noize, but Boys Noize Records is being represented real hard.  It's still going down at Vessel, SF.

Come on Feel the Noize

So for the past few days, I've been out on the left coast, seeing how they kick it out here, Cali style, with some of my boys from the hood. The vibe out here is a bit different than that of the city (think BK, but smaller, and with a drugged out mellow.) So think of me as the temporary West Coast Corespondent.

Anyways, I've been thinking about trying to see a show while I'm out here, and I was fortunate enough to come across a free Boys Noize DJ set for tomorrow night - Wednesday, November 19, 2008. So if you're a left-coaster and you wanna check out some awesome free music, head over to Vessel in Union Square, San Fran.

We went and checked out Boys Noize when the Attack of the Unibros tour came through the city, and I can assure you first hand this is not a show to miss. So don't.

Check out Boys Noize remixing Gonzales:- a song which is also featured in the new EA Sports release of FIFA '09.

And just because I've still been obsessed with this song:

And just in case you can't make it, you wan watch Boys Noize and A-Trak killing it at Webster Hall last month - even though whoever shot this video has horrible camera control.

Chromeo and Bacardi Do Mix 100%

“I’m surprised we didn’t do this earlier! Chromeo is my brother with our childhood friend, Fool’s Gold is my label…It’s only natural to get Fool’s Gold producers to remix Chromeo. Yet it took Bacardi to make it happen. Bacardi’s B-Live program brings you these funkier-than-thou remixes of the slick album closer ‘100%’. You all know Treasure Fingers from his infectious two-stepper ‘Cross The Dancefloor’ and multiple remixes as of late. If you’re up on your new releases you probably heard Nacho Lovers’ inaugural and timeless single ‘Acid Life’. And to flip things a little we recruited Bay Area rapper-slash-producer Trackademicks, whose single ‘Enjoy What You Do’ is just about to drop! Start downloading….NOW.”

mmmm Bacardi.
mmmm Chromeo.

It just seems like everyones taking those great HBO program's theme songs and turning them into the greatness. No exception with the new True Blood theme who got the remixness by New Jerseys own DJ Tiga. Good looks to Mad Decent.

Remix Thursdays - Mystery Jets

Remix Thursdays are pretty sporadic around here.  But not to worry, there is a good one in store today.  I'm been feeling the Mystery Jets a bit, and I stumbled across the Joe and Will Ask? remix of Elizabeth, and my need for more and more grew from there.  There more in store from Dusty Cabinets - sorry, no working MySpace account, Erol Alkan, LA Riots, Loud Pipes, Foamo - the up-and-comer, who has been hailed as "the next Switch" - Delorean - not to be confused with Hot Pink Delorean, Riton, Switch himself, Duke Dumont, Justice, and The Shoes.

Have a listen:

Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy Mystery Jets.

Ballin' the Crafty Way

I know we all aren't the same ballers we once were because of these hard economic times but im pumped for this real crafty idea to reuse some old cassette tapes that i can't even play anymore because face it, whose got a tape deck anywhere anymore and turn them into a change purse/wallet to hold them big bills and holla dolla coins in.

If you dont have a G-ma and/or your not the crafty type, get crafty but you can drop $39 and buy one via Marcella Foschi, Italy over here.

Also, heres another crafty way to keep your dollars in order.
More craftyness.

It's all about those 3 R's; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Tasteless Scumbag Boston Athletes

As much as I love Kevin Garnett - especially before he left his Nike deal for his Adidas deal - I HATE Boston and the athletics that comes along with it.  Here is a perfect example of why.

And the motherfucker still didn't get a technical.

Guess Who's Back?

America's favorite DJ to the stars - Steve Aoki - is making his return to the NYC club scene. Unfortunately he's playing at the ultra-pop/ultra-lame B&T club Cain. No matter though, it's still the Kid Millionaire, and he's still gonna bring that fresh fresh. So, if you're like me, and lamed out on the last time Steve came around, or you're just jonesin' for some left coast love, come check his ish out.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Look at how happy he is with all his famous friends - AM, So Me, Busy P, Gaspard, Mark the Cobra Snake and Xavier

The Genius of Charles Hamilton

The self proclaimed best blogger alive, Charles Hamilton, whose that hottness right now dropped a new, fresh mixtape entitled The Death of a Mixtape Rapper, hosted by DJ Skee. And it is indeed fresh and cooler than that cucumber in your fridge, holler. My favorite track thats on repeat, repeat, repeat right now is Windows Media Player. Mr. Hamilton spits about the blogness over all those annoying sounds from Windows which he turned into a quality beat and advertises all his websites in the hook, pure genius.
"Noone can tell me what i can and cannot do, tell me to be quiet and ill holler like yahoo. Pause, just in case we got bloggers who want to sit behind keys and start problems...,,,"
yea so go be his friend on myspace and check all his sites too, also.

To Air is Human

So, I just finished reading an amazing book; the autobiography of Dan Crane. a.k.a. Björn Türoque - cleverly pronounced Byorn Too-rock; get it. The story of Dan Crane is that of a man aspiring to be the world's greatest air guitarist.  "What does that entail," one might ask?  Well, air guitar, an act that can be likened to karaoke but for the hands.  A complete physical display of extreme rockness.
Put it this way: have you ever been walking down the street, iPod headphones plugged into your ears, playing the Stones perhaps, or maybe even AC/DC, it doesn't really matter as long as it's really rockin'.  Anyways, as you're walking down the streets, tunes blaring through your ears, you suddenly find yourself strumming along with Keith, or Angus.  That's what air guitar is all about.
Besides being a story of the drive to become the greatest air guitarist in the world, Dan/Björn's story not only exudes desperation, but also inspiration.  Not only does it inspire the reader to love everything air and rock, but also to wholeheartedly follow any desires you may have.  Check out the book, and see what happens.  I guarantee you'll dig it.

Beware of Darkness

Not a fan of Daylights Savings Time right now. Haven't gone out in days and it feels like months, my feet are aching to dance. Heres some easy listening from my favorite Beatle, George Harrison. Go out, do something, and don't let this early darkness get to you. Beware.
